Beginning acro
Many pilots have done SIV clinics as the only means of getting a feel for the beginning of acro. I feel it may be more beneficial to take the next progression and attend an acro specific program. Acro, like many activities we pursue, needs a foundation to build off of. It's not practical to go straight to tumbling without first learning the maneuvers that lead up to it. Not to mention the reflexive glider recovery skill necessary to keep you alive when things don't go as hoped.
The foundation for flying acro begins with recovering from stalls and spins. Stabile stall will be the baseline and posture on a regular basis. In the early stages of learning, big deflations and slack lines are quite common. You simply won't have the reactions to correct the problem without first stabilizing the glider.
